
Ridership: Recovery after the pandemic
Mobility in Switzerland was heavily impacted by the spread of COVID-19. In Geneva, like everywhere else in the world, public transport ridership decreased significantly at the beginning of the pandemic, marked by lockdowns. More recently, it has almost returned to pre-pandemic levels. The period from January to March shows a positive result in terms of ridership evolution of 2023 with +3.2% compared to 2024 and % compared to 2019.

Ridership trend by year - every day of the week
Since the summer of 2020, marked by the first easing of measures, ridership has experienced a growing trend: Thus, when comparing the ridership between January and March 2025 with the same period in previous years, we observe the same dynamic with million users in 2023, 56 million in 2024, and 58 million in 2025. Over time, the "chronic" loss due to the rising of teleworking has been gradually offset by population growth.
